Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday!  Spending time with family and friends, reflecting on all the blessings of the past year.  As Christians we have so much to be thankful for!!

Now for some pictures of our Thanksgiving celebration :)
This sweet little munchkin sleeping through all the noise...

There was so much yummy food!!
Homeade rolls, stuffing, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, raspberry pie, pecan pie, and apple cake... we all were so full by the end of the day!!

Thanksgiving tradition is to go skeet shooting!
So after lunch we all piled into the trucks and went over by one of Jaylon's pivots.

It was cold, windy, and rainy in the morning but by the afternoon there were clear skies and it was just a little breezy!

After skeet shooting we all came back to the house and ate some more.  Then a few games of Scattergories and Dutch Blitz were played and ... we ate some more! :P

:: a fun filled family visit ::

This past month we had some very special people come visit us!  Grandmommy and Grandpoppy flew in on a Saturday afternoon and came down to stay with us until Wednesday!  We're so happy they could come see our home and the area we live in.

Sunday afternoon was rainy, cloudy, and windy.
Then this rainbow decided to peak through the clouds :)

Enjoying lunch at Mi Casa one afternoon...

One day we went to Kartchner Caverns together.

Grandmommy thought it was neat to see the cows in the cotton field :)

We made some cards together one afternoon too.

And there was a beautiful sunset one evening...

It was so fun to have them at our house, the time they were here went way too fast!
Come back soon!

Days of Disking

After the corn is harvested the fields need to be disked.
That is what Justin has been doing lately and I've gotten to ride along with him quite a few times.

A Successful Hunt

This past weekend Justin's brothers and Micah went hunting, and all got their deer.  Justin wasn't able to go because of work, so on Monday Joshua went with him.  They didn't get anything so they went again the next day and by Tuesday afternoon Justin shot his deer!

Jubilee holding the head still while the boys skin it :)

Justin wants to turn all the meat we got into jerky!

...I can see a lurking coyote all around the purple haze...

The other evening I was outside and heard a couple of coyotes yapping behind our house.
It reminded me of a poem we memorized about Arizona mountains when I was younger.

"I am lonesome, oh so lonesome for that far away southwest,
Where the shadows fall the deepest over the mountain crest.
I can see a lurking coyote all around the purple haze;
I can hear a lobo hollering down where the longhorns graze.
And somewhere up a canyon I can hear a lion whine.
In those far off Catalina Mountains at the Arizona line."

Apple Pickin'

One evening we went to pick apples at a local orchard.  The best part about these apples was that the owner let us pick as many as we wanted...for FREE!!  What a blessing! :)

Jared and Uriah :)

I brought home two bags of Golden Delicious and two bags of Granny Smith.

The two bags of Golden Delicious apples turned into 2 quarts and 11 pints of applesauce!

I plan on using the Granny Smiths for pies and cobblers :)
